Improper storage of toxic materials means a year and a day in federal prison for an Owego businessman.

46 year old Brian Davis, who owned Large Car LLC pleaded guilty in May to violating the Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act for storing materials containing heavy metals around his property on Waverly Road and repeatedly burning mixed materials, contaminating not only soil but the air.

He also reportedly gave some of the material away without keeping track where it was being sent.

He could have faced two 1/2 years in prison and fined up to $15 million under the original charges before agreeing to a plea.
