What’s Next for the Owego Grand Union Site
The owners of a Tioga County shopping plaza are looking for a new tenant to fill the space that had been occupied by a Grand Union supermarket.
The 40,000 square feet spot in the Owego Plaza on Route 17C has been occupied by a series of grocery stores for decades.
The location was used P&C and Tops before Grand Union opened its store in January 2022. C&S Wholesale Grocers shut down the operation on March 1, a month before a newly-constructed Aldi store opened across the street.
The 83,000-square-foot shopping center is owned by an LLC in New Hartford, New York.
The plaza is located a short distance west of the Lockheed Martin plant. The site is close to an Interstate 86 exit.
A Pyramid Brokerage Company listing indicates the space that had been used by Grand Union would be suitable for retail, office or medical tenants.
The Owego Pharmacy is located next door to the now-vacant supermarket location in the plaza. Valu Home Center and Dollar General stores also are currently operating in the retail complex.
