Construction Starts on Otsiningo Dog Park Complex
Work is underway on a much-anticipated canine facility at the north end of Broome County's Otsiningo Park.
The dog park complex is being built south of Howell Drive in the town of Chenango. It will be located just east of Interstate 81.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar said public works department crews have been pouring concrete at the site of the project.
Garnar told WNBF News the concrete work should be completed soon. In addition to concrete pouring, workers will install a water system and a fountain for use by dogs at their recreational complex.
Construction started in the park in mid-June. The weather initially cooperated but the recent heavy rain has slowed progress.
The second phase of the project will involve the installation of fencing.
The Broome County dog park is expected to cost about $200,000. In 2021, PetSafe awarded a $25,000 grant for development of the facility.
