The federal government's website to order at-home Covid-19 tests has gone into operation ahead of schedule.

The official website is covidtests.gov. It went online Tuesday, although Wednesday is the official launch date.

According to the site, tests are available "for every residential address" in the United States.

Users were advised to "check back tomorrow if you run into any unexpected issues."

Every home in the nation is eligible to order four tests at no charge. Orders will be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. They're expected to ship within 7 to 12 days.

The website advises people to "Order your tests now so you have them when you need them."

People who need a Covid test right away are directed to use resources in their area. Broome County residents may schedule tests by using the county government website: gobroomecounty.com.
