
One Person Hurt in House Fire on Binghamton’s West Side
Binghamton fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that left several people homeless.
The fire in a two-story four-unit apartment house at 17 Jarvis Street was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday.
One person was taken to a hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation. There were no reports of injuries to firefighters.
The fire caused extensive damage to the two apartments on the second floor. The apartments on the first floor sustained smoke and water damage.
Police and fire investigators said there was no immediate indication that the fire was suspicious in nature, although the cause had not yet been determined.
It was not known how many people were living in the building at the time of the blaze.
