Binghamton fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that left several people homeless.
The fire in a two-story four-unit apartment house at 17 Jarvis Street was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday.
One person was taken to a hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation. There were no reports of injuries to firefighters.
The fire caused extensive damage to the two apartments on the second floor. The apartments on the first floor sustained smoke and water damage.
Police and fire investigators said there was no immediate indication that the fire was suspicious in nature, although the cause had not yet been determined.
It was not known how many people were living in the building at the time of the blaze.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State
To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery.
