New York State Police are asking for more information about a single vehicle crash in the Town of Maine that claimed the life of a Newark Valley man.

Officials say the crash on Fredericks Road was discovered at around 7 a.m. April 25 but is believed to have happened several hours earlier.

Investigators say it appears 27 year old Jason Coyne was driving west when he left the north shoulder of the road and overcorrected, crossing the road and hitting a tree off the south shoulder.

Authorities say Coyne, who was the only occupant of the Jeep, not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.

Troopers say it appears alcohol, along with failure to use a seat belt, contributed to the fatal crash.

Anyone with information about the accident or Coyne’s whereabouts prior to the discovery of the crash is asked to call the New York State Police at (607) 775-1241.
