Old Evidence Money Turned Over to Police
Some Broome County law enforcement agencies are getting some money that has been sitting around gathering dust for years.
Broome County District Attorney Steve Cornwell posed with Binghamton’s Assistant Police Chief, and the Police Chiefs of Endicott and Johnson City behind a pile of money that had been taken in as evidence and stored in evidence rooms.
Close to $50,000 from cases that have been resolved are going to the law enforcement agencies where each of the cases originated.
Those agencies have to follow a routine civil forfeiture procedure to claim the funding.
Some of the money comes from case dating back to 1979.
