OFA Graduate Speaks to Students About Music Industry

Owego Free Academy 2006 Graduate, and professional audio engineer Juan Pena will be joining the Owego Middle School and OFA students, during virtual classes this Thursday October 22^nd and Friday October 23^rd

Juan, who is fast becoming one of the top sound engineers in the music industry, will be speaking to students via Zoom about his career as an audio engineer, along with his early years growing up in Owego, attending Broome Community College, and SUNY Purchase.

According to a press release from OACSD Public Information/Digital Media,, Juan was the vocal engineer on the current Hot 100 Billboard #1 hit song Savage Love by Jason Derulo, and the #2 Hot 100 Billboard hit song Dynamite by BTS.

Juan will talk about his career, and what it took to get him to where he is now, he will also discuss the importance of hard work, and taking advantage of every opportunity.

The students will also be introduced to the world of sound recording, which ties in with the curriculum of their music teacher at OFA, Ryan Cirbus.

Mr Pena will go through the process of his role in the hit song Dynamite, and how it became a finished song, along with his work with BTS.

Juan has other credits involving other hits with big names in the hip hop genre.

There will be opportunities for students to ask questions.
