NYS to Set Up Council to Track Covid-19 Effects on Frontline Workers
An advisory panel will be established to help address the trauma experienced by essential workers in New York because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo cosponsored legislation to create the council. Governor Cuomo has signed the measure into law.
Lupardo, an Endwell Democrat, said the pandemic "will have a lasting impact on the mental health of many of our frontline workers." She said the advisory council will help connect them with services to help them deal with the emotional aftermath of what they've experienced.
Many frontline workers are expected to experience anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance abuse issues.
