NYS Senator Seward and Wife Test Positive for Coronavirus
New York state Senator James Seward has announced that he and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Otsego County Republican, who represents the 51st District, has been battling bladder cancer. Earlier this year, he said he had decided not to seek reelection.
Seward Monday released a statement about the positive coronavirus test results for himself and his wife Cindy.
In the statement, Seward said he was tested at Albany Medical Center, where he continues to receive treatment.
Seward said he was diagnosed with a mild case of the virus and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Seward is expected to be released from the hospital soon. He then will remain under quarantine at home.
Seward's wife was tested at a Cooperstown hospital. She is recuperating at home.
Senate Republican leader John Flanagan said Seward "has not been in Albany since March 11."
