The Broome County Legislature is giving the green light the sale of a big eyesore in Endicott to National Pipe and Plastic.

A unanimous vote seals the deal to sell the old Endicott Johnson factory on North Page Avenue to National Pipe for $100,000.

The company plans to build new company headquarters at the site after tearing down the old building.  A portion of the lot is also due to be donated back to Endicott to be used by the nearby West Endicott Park.

The facility, which has been abandoned for decades, has been the scene of numerous complaints of vandalism and other criminal activity in addition to posing a health and safety risk to the community.

Another developer had plans for the property to be turned into housing geared toward seniors but that fell through when the county petitioned to seize the site for back-taxes.  Earlier this year, a court approved the county’s action and turned ownership back over to Broome.
