The parent companies of Time Warner Cable are being sued by New York State over internet speeds.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says some customers of Spectrum/ Time Warner were short-changed by the media company that promised fast connections from anywhere in their home.

The AG says his office investigated for 16 months and found, in some cases, the internet speeds were up to 80 percent slower than customers had paid for.

Schneiderman alleges corporate officials were aware that their network was not capable of living up to their advertised promises.
