New York State is extending the deadline to buy discounted season admission passes to State Parks, Historic Sites, Recreational Trails, Beaches and Boat Launches.

The Empire Pass Card are being offered for $65 instead of the normal $80 price for a limited time.  The discounted price is now available through April 8.

The wallet-sized plastic cards can be shared and are good for the entire season at the single purchase price.

The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation says over 40,000 pass cards have been sold at discount since the beginning of the year.

There are more than 250 sites that can be accessed using the pass.

Previously, there had been decals available for vehicles to enter the parks.  Those are no longer being offered.

Empire Pass Cards can be purchased at New York State Parks or online at Due to the processing time, the Parks Office recommends purchasing the cards at a nearby state park.
