Here are a few of the latest road issues to be aware of in Broome and Tioga County in New York and Bradford County, PA.
Stratmill Road Closure In Kirkwood
The Broome County Department of Public Works has announced that Stratmill Road, a county-owned road located in the Town of Kirkwood, will be closed for a culvert rehabilitation near the address number 308.
The closure will begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18th, reopening to traffic approximately at 5 p.m. on July 3rd. Local traffic will need to seek alternate routes while the road is closed, and a signed detour route will be in place during the closure.
Interstate 86 Eastbound Lane Closure
According to the New York State Department of Transportation, Interstate 86 eastbound will be closed between Exit 65 (Owego) in Tioga County and Exit 67 (Endicott) in Broome County beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 19, until 6 a.m. Friday, June 20, to facilitate guiderail repairs.
A signed detour will be in place sending traffic to State Route 434 eastbound at Exit 65 (Owego) to State Route 26 northbound in Vestal before returning to Interstate 86 eastbound at Exit 67 (Endicott). Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions. Motorists should anticipate travel delays and build extra travel time into their schedules.
Bradford County, Pennsylvania Bridge Weight Restrictions
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has issued a notice of two Bradford County bridges with permanent, year-round weight restrictions. Recent inspections on the following bridges indicate that vehicles over this weight may damage the integrity of the structure or accelerate the deterioration.
Leraysville Road (Route 1049) in Windham Township
A 20-ton single unit and 30-ton combination unit weight limit is in effect on the bridge carrying Leraysville Road over Prince Hollow Run in Windham Township.
Cadis Road (Route 1040) in Warren Township
A 16-ton single unit and a 29-ton combination unit weight limit has been placed on the bridge carrying Cadis Road over Prince Hollow Run in Warren Township.
