Broome County Health Department officials say they have submitted local plans to the New York State Department of Health for handling and distributing the shots when they are available.

Rebecca Kauffman, the director of Broome County's Health Department, says they have been working with the county's partners: UHS, Lourdes Ascension Health and Binghamton University, to tap hospital and Pharmacy School resources for future vaccine distribution.

Governor Cuomo says he expects 170,000 doses of Pfiser's vaccine to arrive in the state December 15.

It has not been determined how many of those doses are earmarked for downstate and how many may be spread among other regions of New York.
