Beginning Tuesday, the state is making an additional 15-million dollars available from HEAP...the Home Energy Assistance Program for residents in need.

People in households that have already received assistance from HEAP are eligible.

State officials say  those who qualify can get up to $2,200 if they're facing possible energy shut-off or are running out of heating fuel with no way to pay for more.

More than one million households have already received regular benefits this heating season.  40,000 of those have also received emergency HEAP funds and will be eligible for the funding that will be released beginning on February 18th.
