The city-owned golf course atop Mount Prospect in Binghamton will be operated by a Virginia-based management firm.

Mayor Richard David says Indigo Golf Partners has been hired to run the Ely Park Golf Course.

David says the company's management plan has been approved by city council.

Under the five-year agreement, Indigo Golf will manage course operations and maintenance. The company also will be responsible for handling food and beverage sales, marketing and administrative activities.

This year's cost to the city is estimated to be $65,000.

The Ely Park course was operated by Davern Management LLC over the past three years.

Indigo Golf Partners manages golf facilities around the United States, including dozens of publicly-owned courses.

Indigo Golf was acquired in January by Troon, a company headquartered in Arizona.
