Old Court Street traffic signals are being replaced as part of the Gateway Project.

Syracuse Signal Systems workers Friday installed traffic signals and pedestrian signals.

Traffic at the intersection of Court and State streets may flow more smoothly because sensors have been installed beneath the pavement to regulate the signal.

Decorative light poles have been put in place along Court Street in recent days.

Most of the pavement markings, including newly-designated angle back-in parking spaces, have been completed. Pavement striping and crosswalk painting near the roundabout at the Chenango and Exchange street intersection have not been done.

People walking downtown should use caution when using the crosswalks that already have been painted as part of the project. The reflective glass beads applied over the paint can make the pavement markings slippery when wet.
