Former “Social on State” Site to Be Home of New Restaurant
A Binghamton businessman is developing another restaurant at at the downtown location previously occupied by Social on State.
Mark Yonaty has been working on plans for a new establishment in the building at 201 State Street where the tapas restaurant and cocktail lounge had operated for several years. Social on State had opened at the site in June 2014.
Yonaty previously had said the decision to close Social on State in September 2023 was primarily due to staffing issues. At the time, he was concentrating on launching Station 45 American Chop House on Lewis Street.
Yonaty said the new business on State Street will be called Baci & Ianni's Trattoria. It's described as a boutique-type restaurant that will offer homemade pasta.
Amarissa Scelsi will be the executive chef. She has said she has her "passion is fresh pasta" and that's what be featured at the restaurant.
Yonaty told WNBF News he expects Baci & Ianni's will open in late September or early October.
