Westbound traffic will use a detour onto Interstate 81 northbound to the Front Street exit. Drivers then will turn right onto Front Street and take the Interstate 81 southbound ramp to return to Route 17 westbound.

DOT officials say the work should be completed by 6 a.m. Friday.

The new bridge is part of the massive Prospect Mountain Project, which is designed to replace aging bridges and improve safety at the busy Route 17/Interstate 81 interchange.
