Mystery Surrounds Blind Tiger Pub in the Town of Union
A well-known bar just west of Johnson City has suddenly closed its doors and it may be gone for good.
Three signs posted on doors to the Blind Tiger Pub on Watson Boulevard in the town of Union indicated the "business is now closed." The message thanked "our staff and patrons" but did not explain why the place was not operating.
Neon beer signs were lighted and music was heard from outdoor speakers on Wednesday afternoon but the only creature stirring was a cat hanging out around the back deck.
An empty Southern Tier Brewing pint glass sat on a picnic table outside a rear entrance.
An email address appeared at the bottom of the signs advising of the closing but there was no response to a message seeking more information.
In early February, New York State Police reported the business was one of four Broome County establishments accused of selling alcohol to an underage person.
The owner of the property could not be reached for contact.
The Blind Tiger Facebook page featured an overhead photo of the establishment that appeared to have been posted on Monday afternoon.
Below the picture, someone asked whether it was true the business was "closed for good." The reply: "Unfortunately we are very sad to say yes it is true"
