Most Popular Majors at Binghamton University & SUNY Broome
Cities across our country are proud of many things about their community, and one thing that not every city can lay claim, to and be proud of, is their local colleges and universities.
Fortunately, the Greater Binghamton community can be proud to say we have two great higher learning institutions with SUNY Broome, (formerly Broome Community College) and Binghamton University (formerly Harpur College.)
Both campuses continue to grow and in turn, help our community to grow as well. Since I have lived in the Binghamton area (moved here in 1977), it's amazing to see how much larger both colleges are than they were 40 years ago, and how they have helped to shape our community with new businesses and opportunities.

I recently found a few facts from the US News & World Report website about Binghamton University. For example, the college is ranked overall at number 83 on the Best National Universities list in 2022. Also, number 46 for best colleges for veterans, and number 42 for best undergraduate training.
US News & World Report states that the student to faculty ratio is 19 to 1, has an enrollment of just over 18,000 students, and a few of the most popular majors are in Psychology, Biology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Nursing, and various types of Engineering.
SUNY Broome has a population of over 5,000 full and part-time students with a 20 to 1 student-to-faculty ratio according to the SUNY website. Business, Nursing, and Liberal Arts & Humanities are a few of the most popular majors at SUNY Broome.
Both colleges offer many opportunities for arts and sports programs as well, which is a great benefit to our community as well as the campuses, and each college boasts a great teaching staff.
