More Legal Arguments in NY 22nd Congressional Contest
It’s still not over! Instead of an announcement of the winner in New York’s 22nd Congressional District, State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte has ordered a temporary stay, preventing Oneida County from finally certifying its count.
The move comes so Democrat Anthony Brindisi and Republican Claudia Tenney can continue legal arguments.
Oneida had been expected to finally be able to certify the votes in the only unresolved Congressional race in the U.S. by the end of the day February 2 before the stay was ordered to consider a question raised by the incumbent Democrat’s team.
Brindisi’s legal team asked about the ramifications of seating a candidate then later finding, under appeal, the new Representative was not the actual winner and whether the Congress-person could be recalled.
More legal paper-filing and arguments are on the schedule for February 4 and 5.
