Pennsylvania State Police say a Binghamton boy who became separated from two friends while hiking in Salt Spring State Park June 27 has been found and is safe.

Authorities say the 12 year old boy became separated from a 19 year old boy from Thompson and an 18 year old boy from Hallstead at around 8 p.m.

The older boys searched for the 12 year old for about two hours before the State Police were contacted.

Troopers, Susquehanna County Emergency Management, Snake Creek Fire, United Fire, K9 Units from Broome and Susquehanna Counties and other agencies responded for the search over very rugged terrain.

The boy was found along a roadway near the park shortly after 7 a.m. June 28, just before the start of a major, multi-agency daylight search.
