Mayor Declares Friday “Roger Neel Day” in Binghamton
Roger Neel, who is retiring from WNBF Radio after more than four decades, is being honored for his service to the community by the city of Binghamton.
Mayor Richard David Thursday presented Neel with a proclamation and a "Key to the City" during the station's First News program.
David expressed his appreciation to Neel for the work he has done during his years as a broadcaster in Binghamton.
The mayor said Neel has provided a valuable service by promoting many community organizations and events.
David has designated Friday as "Roger Neel Day" in Binghamton. The proclamation stated: "Roger's career as a radio broadcaster is outshone only by his standing in the community as a model citizen known for his kindness and the countless hours he has spent giving back to the Greater Binghamton area."
Neel's final regular broadcast is scheduled for Friday morning. He will continue to provide play-by-play coverage of Binghamton University men's basketball games on WNBF.
