Binghamton Mayor Richard David is criticizing fellow Republican, President Donald Trump for his plans to eliminate all funding for the Community Development Block Grant program.

David says that kind of cut would eliminate $1.7 million in annual aid to the City.

David says the CDBG is one of the most effective and transparent ways the federal government can invest in local communities.

In addition to programs at the Boys and Girls Club and Action for Older Persons, infrastructure and street repairs would take substantial hit, along with parks improvements and economic development efforts.

David is urging residents to contact their federal representatives: Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney to urge their support for Community Development Block Grant funding.
