A worker at a Town of Chenango business is being treated for serious injuries after being partially pinned by a four-thousand pound concrete slab.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say 44 year old James Church suffered head and leg injuries as he was loading the slab onto a trailer at Binghamton Precast and Supply Corporation on Thomas Street at 3:20 p.m. October 23.

The authorities say they determined Church had been loading the slab that was attached to a forklift by chains and had placed the concrete on the trailer.  The slab apparently shifted and slid forward onto Church as he had gotten out of the forklift to unhook the chains.

A co-worker found Church, who was unconscious, and called 911.

Workers used heavy equipment to lift the concrete off him.

Church was taken to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.
