25-year-old Jimir McMillian was convicted January 8 of rape, criminal sex act and possessing a sexual performance by a child.  He had been accused of having sexual contact with a person under the age of 17 when he was 21 years old or older and possessing images of a sexual performance of a girl under the age of 16.

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office says, following an investigation by the Binghamton Police, McMillan’s case was presented to a Grand Jury in August, resulting in the three count indictment.

McMillian was convicted by a Broome County Jury of all three counts this week.

District Attorney Michael Korchak issued his first case-related statement to all local media January 9 promising: “Those who prey on children will be aggressively prosecuted and removed from our streets and neighborhoods.”
