In a game that has been talked about for months the Maine-Endwell Spartans defeated the Chenango Forks Blue Devils at Spartan Stadium 20-7 last night.  It was a battle of defending New York State champions...the Blue Devils in Class "C" and the Spartans in Class "B".  With the win Maine-Endwell ups its consecutive game winning streak to 44.  The Forks lost for the first time in 17 games.

M-E quarterback Kyle Balmer and wide receiver Michael Palmer combined for three touchdown passes to pace the Spartans offense.  The third TD reception was tipped by Adam Gallagher with Palmer making a diving grab in the end zone for the six points.

Chenango Forks lone score came on a pass from Jack Sherwood to speedy L.J. Watson in the second quarter.  The Spartans held a 14-7 lead at the half.  Neither side put up points in the third quarter.  The M-E  Balmer to Palmer connection sealed the deal with 7:04 remaining in the game.

The crowd of over 9,000 is one of the largest if not the largest in recent Section 4 football history.  Fans arrived in the school's parking lot as early as 11:30 AM and there was a lengthy line of fans from both schools waiting to enter the stadium when the gates opened at 4:30 PM.
