The Maine-Endwell School District is continuing to evaluate its staffing levels and finances after announcing the elimination of over a half dozen jobs.

Yesterday, the M-E School Board approved the elimination of of five cleaning jobs, two lunchroom employees, a maintenance worker and a computer services coordinator, effective immediately.

The district has a deficit in its budget totaling $3.8 million.  In addition to the staffing adjustments, the district is looking at various programs including sports, music and other areas where cuts may be made.

School officials say they are hoping to address the current deficit and future financial challenges while providing the best education possible for students.
