Lupardo: Southern Tier Will Benefit From Economic Development Aid
The Southern Tier will receive $91 million in economic development assistance from New York State.
Governor Cuomo announced a second round of regional economic development grants this morning.
The money for the Southern Tier is to be used to fund 62 proposed projects.
A planned "high technology incubator" for downtown Binghamton has been allocated $7 million. That project is a collaboration involving Binghamton University and the region's economic development community.
In a statement released by her office, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo said the collaboration will "reap benefits for years to come."
The Endwell Democrat said she's "especially excited" about the high-tech incubator.
Lupardo said that project will help create jobs by "bringing innovations to the marketplace."
The Finger Lakes region has been awarded $96 million to help fund 76 projects.
Other regional grants include nearly $94 million to Central New York for 73 projects and $93 million for the Mid-Hudson region for 84 projects.
The governor announced a total of $738 million in economic development funding for projects across the state.
