The Lockheed Martin site in Tioga County will be doing more work upgrading data and software equipment for helicopters operated by the United States Navy.

The company has received a $13.5 million contract extension for avionics systems used in MH-60R helicopters.

The additional work to be done as part of this contract is scheduled to be completed over the next two years.

According to Lockheed, the Navy uses the Seahawk helicopter as an anti-submarine warfare weapon system in open ocean zones.

Lockheed reportedly has about 4,000 workers at its town of Owego facility.
