Federal funding is being locked down for two big helicopter projects that will keep jobs in Tioga County.

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer says the federal spending bill agreement that has been reached in Washington includes $507.1 million for the Lockheed Martin presidential helicopter program and 156.1 million for the U.S. Air Force Combat Search and Rescue Helicopter contract.

The final federal budget still needs to be approved in the House and Senate before being sent on to President Barack Obama.

Schumer says the agreement will mean more jobs in Owego while maintaining the hundreds of positions working on the two programs.

Lockheed Martin employs roughly 2,700 people in Owego.

The presidential helicopter contract calls for manufacturing 21 Marine One aircraft for the presidential fleet and two test helicopters.

The Air Force contract calls for delivery of 112 search and rescue helicopters.
