Local Advocates Lobby for Preserving Rights for the Disabled
As the clock ticks down to the Spring time change, local advocates for the disabled are urging New York Governor Andrew Cuomo not to turn the clock back on disability rights.
A caravan of cars is heading from the Southern Tier Independence Center to the War Room at the State Capitol in Albany.
Officials with STIC say they want the Governor to address the home care and assistance workforce crisis by making sure that people who care for New Yorkers with disabilities get adequate reimbursement and a living wage. The group is also advocating for expanding ride sharing services like Uber throughout the state, giving people with transportation and mobility issues another option for getting around.
