LATEST: Binghamton Police Seek Man in Shooting Investigation
Binghamton police are looking for a suspect following a shooting incident in the city's First Ward.
Multiple gunshots were reported in the area of Emma Street and Belknap Avenue around 10:50 a.m. Thursday. There apparently were no injuries.
Detective Captain John Ryan said two men were detained by police and interviewed by investigators. They were released after questioning.
Ryan said those men were fired upon after a "verbal interaction" with another man.
A Broome County Sheriff's Office canine unit assisted city police following the shooting.
Trains were halted for a time as police officers and detectives searched nearby railroad tracks in Binghamton and Johnson City.
Ryan said the suspect in the shooting was described as a black man with a thin build. He drove from the area in a black Toyota sedan. A woman was believed to be in the vehicle with the suspect.
