Arrested For Felony Weapons: Broome County Man Faces Multiple Charges
A Broome County man is now facing multiple charges, including felony weapons charges, after being arrested during a routine traffic stop.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 2, 2023, when the Broome County Sheriff's Road Patrol pulled over a gray Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck on Route 17 West near Exit 71 in Binghamton. The driver, identified as Kyle L. Kasmarcik, a 35-year-old resident of Port Crane, was found to have a suspended license.
During the investigation and towing of the vehicle, law enforcement officers say they discovered a loaded and unregistered 9mm handgun, a digital scale, and a small bag containing a white crystal-like substance. Tests conducted on the substance confirmed it to be methamphetamine. Additionally, a separate license plate was found in the truck, which had reportedly been used the previous day during an attempted evasion of law enforcement.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle L. Kasmarcik was taken into custody and is now facing the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon (Loaded Firearm) in the 2nd Degree, which is a Class C Felony.
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm, classified as a Class E Felony.
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, categorized as a Class A Misdemeanor.
- Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, considered a Class A Misdemeanor.
- Aggravated Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree (3 or More Open Suspensions), classified as a Misdemeanor.
Additionally, Kasmarcik also faces these charges:
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, a Violation.
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with Improper Plates, also a Violation.
- Operating a Motor Vehicle without Inspection, categorized as a Violation.
- Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle on the Highway, considered a Violation.

Following his arrest, Kasmarcik was taken to Central Arraignment and is currently being held in custody at the Broome County Sheriff's Correctional Facility.
