JC Building Demolished for Planned Visions Credit Union Project
Visions Federal Credit Union appears to be moving forward with a project to build a walk-up branch office on Main Street in Johnson City.
Gorick Construction crews on Wednesday demolished a structure that had been used as medical and dental offices.
The Endicott-based credit union acquired the property for about $360,000 in March 2020.
Visions presented plans to the Johnson City planning board last February indicating the credit union wanted to build a small office at the location.
The proposal called for a 60-foot by 25-foot building with no on-site parking. A municipal parking lot is located across the street from the site. The small office would not provide drive-up services.
Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie said he viewed Visions plans for the site at Main and Arch streets as "positive."
The credit union now has a branch office about one mile to the east of the location where the new building is planned.
Visions representatives could not be reached on Thursday to discuss the project.
