Disposal of Tires and Scrap Metal

As part of the cleanup event, town residents may dispose of up to 8 clean, non-commercial tires free of charge. These tires must not exceed a maximum size of 19 inches. However, any tires beyond the initial 8 will be subject to a per-tire fee of $1.00, with a household limit of 16 tires. It is important to note that tires attached to rims will be accepted at no charge and will not count towards the 8-tire limit. Please note that large tires associated with tractors or tractor-trailers will not be accepted.

Residents are also welcome to bring their clean scrap metal for disposal, without facing any charges.

Electronic Waste Collection

The town will also be accepting various electronic devices at no cost. Computers, keyboards, external hard drives, printers, gaming devices, scanners, copiers, fax machines, answering machines, cell phones, tablets, smartphones, and digital cameras are among the accepted items. For a comprehensive list of acceptable electronic waste, please refer to this provided list.

A Sustainable Initiative

The Town of Owego and Tioga County Sustainability are proud to fund this important cleanup event. By facilitating the proper disposal of tires, scrap metal, and electronic waste, the initiative significantly contributes to environmental preservation and responsible waste management practices.
