By now, you have probably heard about the Binghamton firefighter who tragically lost his life while battling a fire downtown. The community is rallying together in an incredible way to support his family.

Generosity through GoFundMe

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help out John (JR) Gaudet's wife and their three children. Thanks to the generosity of people like Lyndsie Babcock, a friend and co-worker of Gaudet's wife, support for the family has been nothing short of amazing. The online fundraiser has already raised over $270,000 as of Tuesday, February 18th. It's so heartwarming to see the outpouring of love and support for those in need.

Remembering JR Gaudet

In addition to being a dedicated husband, father, and firefighter, JR Gaudet was an influential figure in the community, coaching different youth sports teams and varsity lacrosse for Seton Catholic Central High School. The impact he had on our community will be remembered for a long time to come.

Community Solidarity and Condolences

Following JR Gaudet’s death, flags at county facilities were lowered to half-staff, and local and state officials have shared their condolences, showing their support for the Binghamton Fire Department and the injured firefighters.

Inspired by Compassion

It is times like these that remind us of the incredible compassion that our community has. We are inspired by the love that you are showing the Gaudet family.
