In 2021, Townsquare Media surveyed its listeners about new business in the Southern Tier, asking residents if they could bring any business to the former Oakdale Mall, now Oakdale Commons, which business it would be and an overwhelming number of people said they would like to see more entertainment options.

Southern Tier – your wish has been granted.

Sources report that the popular restaurant and entertainment chain Dave & Buster's signed a lease on Thursday, April 20 to open in the Oakdale Commons on Harry L. Drive in Johnson City.

No word yet on when Dave & Buster's will open in Oakdale Commons but the addition of the restaurant and entertainment franchise comes on the heels of earlier announcements that BJ’s Wholesale Club, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread, and Dick’s House of Sports would also be taking up residence at Oakdale Commons.

Dave & Busters was first opened in Dallas, Texas in 1982, by two friends named…you guessed it, Dave and Buster. Today, Dave & Buster's has more than 140 locations nationwide.

In addition to a full restaurant menu, Dave & Buster's also offers state-of-the-art games and big televisions located throughout the entire venue for sports watching. Sources say Dave & Buster's will open in Oakdale Commons sometime in 2024.
