Calling all young anglers! The Friends of Chenango Valley State Park want you to get ready to reel in some fun during the 21st Annual Kid's Fishing Derby! On Saturday, May 4th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., their lake will be filled with excitement, and hopefully a lot of fish!

This event is free for kids up to age 17, so grab your rods and get ready to cast a line for a fine time. You don't need to worry about pre-registration, just sign your kid up when you get there.

Once they are registered, every young fisherman and fisherwoman will get a derby day lunch and a raffle ticket for a chance at some fun event drawings. The catch of the day might not just be fish but also some awesome prizes!

The Friends of Chenango Valley State Park is a nonprofit group, doing their part to keep the magic of our park. This group puts their hearts into educational programs throughout the year. This event isn't just about casting nets but casting knowledge too!

The derby will also have hourly raffle prizes, fly fishing demonstrations, and you'll learn how to tie your own flies! That's not all because kids eat free, and adults can snag a bite for a small fee.

It's a morning filled with nature, nibbles, and neat new knowledge. The Kids Fishing Derby is more than just fishing; it's about making memories and like the one that got away, will be talked about for years to come.

Chenango Valley State Park is located at 153 State Park Road in Chenango Forks. To find out more, you can reach them by calling 607-648-5251. Bring your bait and tackle and get ready to make a splash at the Kid's Fishing Derby!
