Broome County Parents Can Enroll for 200 Spot KinderCare at Oakdale Commons
For Southern Tier parents who have spent countless hours looking for dependable child care, some welcome news is taking shape at Oakdale Commons.
Construction is underway on a new Broome County KinderCare Learning Center with room for 200 children. The center is expected to open in spring 2027 and will become the largest child care facility in Broome County.
The new Broome County KinderCare will serve children from 6 weeks old through prekindergarten. KinderCare says it will provide early childhood education and care in a safe, engaging environment focused on children’s social, emotional, and academic development.

The new center is being built at Oakdale Commons in Johnson City, creating another child care option for families across the Southern Tier.
Although the doors are not expected to open until next spring, families do not have to wait to start planning. Enrollment is already open for parents interested in securing care at the new location.
How to Enroll at the New Broome County KinderCare
Parents can begin the enrollment process by visiting KinderCare’s Broome County enrollment page or calling 833-905-3276.
That might be especially helpful for families trying to line up care before returning to work, starting a new job, or welcoming a new baby.
Broome County Receives $20 Million for Child Care Expansion
Earlier this year, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that Broome County was one of three New York counties selected to receive $20 million to help families access affordable, high quality early childhood education.
County Executive Jason Garnar said the project is an important step toward addressing a need that many local parents know all too well.
“We’ve talked a lot about the need for more child care in Broome County, and now we’re seeing that investment turn into something real,” Garnar said. “This new center will give families another option for quality child care.”

With 200 spots planned, the Broome County KinderCare at Oakdale Commons could make a real difference for families searching for reliable care close to home.
