Have you noticed? The Triple Cities is looking good...in paint. You may have noticed murals being painted on buildings around our communities. And they look great. This is a recent mural, painted in Endicott.

And there are more throughout Broome County that pop out and help make our communities more attractive. And Broome County is looking for more to be done. The county has partnered with the Department of Public Art, developing the iDistricts Murals and Mosaics Public Art Program.

According to the Go Broome County website, the goal is to create more public art in the county with a series of murals and mosaics. Currently, the project is in the planning stage, and searching for additional sites in the community that would be a great canvas for public art.

If you are a property owner and you'd like to have a wall on your building be considered for a mural or mosaic, fill out the iDistrict Call for Walls Form. If your wall is approved, the mural or mosaic must be maintained in good condition for ten years. You have until  Wednesday, November 30 to submit the form for the final round of the IDistricts Public Art Program.

Some of the conditions to be considered include, the mural or mosaic being visible from the public right of way, the wall being stable and secure, and taking into account businesses and residents around your building. Commercial signs and messages will not be accepted.
