Spooky Spectacles: Halloween Haunts In New York & Pennsylvania

Happy Halloween! This season has been pretty much in our faces since July! Sure a lot different from when I was a kid. Seems like it was the beginning of October before anyone in my neck of the woods started thinking about this non-holiday and what to dress up as on October 31st.

Now, you see many homes with Halloween decorations that rival Christmas decorations. Yes, even I have a couple of Halloween decorations on my front lawn.

Aside from the occasional Halloween parties when I was young, there wasn't much else to Halloween except for the day itself. That's not the case anymore. At least throughout the Southern Tier of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania.

There are several fun and scary Halloween-themed places to enjoy every year throughout October. Here are four that I am aware of:

Echoes of Terror at Electric Echo Lake

Echoes of Terror at Electric Echo Lake is a new attraction located at the Echo Lake Resort & Campground, 185 Echo Lake Lane in Afton, New York.

This attraction will be open from October 21st through November 3rd, featuring family-friendly Halloween activities during the day including pumpkin carving, portrait painting, Halloween games, spooky bingo with prizes, bobbing for apple challenges, and more.

The scares will begin once the sun goes down. A pristine country setting...a hike in the woods...what could happen next?

 Reaper's Revenge

Reaper's Revenge is located at 460 Green Grove Road in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, which is off Interstate 81 in Scott Township.

Reaper's Revenge is open on select dates through November 2nd, featuring five haunts combined in one: a haunted hayride, the Lost Carnival dark forest walk-through, Delirium - a 3-D altered reality attraction, Pitch Black, and Sector 13.

Hellstead Manor

Hellstead Manor is located at 630 Harmony Road in Hallstead, Pennsylvania. It's an indoor haunted manor filled with incredible actors and terrifying scares, followed by a journey into the deep, dark woods.

Ghosts and ghouls lurking around every corner combined with the desolate atmosphere of a spooky farmhouse manor make for a perfect night of terrifying fun. Open every Friday and Saturday night through October 26th.

Tagsylvania

Tagsylvania is where you normally would be watching your favorite artists and bands perform - Tag's, located on Route 352 in Big Flats, New York. This Halloween attraction has been around for 15 years, featuring four haunted attractions.

Tagsylvania is also kid-friendly, with Kid's Daylight Frights featuring face painting, crafts, costume contests, and a daylight walk through some of Tagsyvania's attractions.
