Free New York State Sheriff’s Summer Camp Applications Due April 1st
Spring is almost here, and summer will not be far behind. It's about time! Summertime is a fun time, and that is especially true for our young people.
One of the things many kids look forward to is summer camp. Although not every family can afford to send their child (children) to summer camp. That's where the New York State Sheriff's Summer Camp comes in.
This camp is for children between the ages of 9 and 12, who, due to economic reasons, are unable to attend a summer camp experience. The NYS Summer Camp program allows a certain number of children from each county to go to the camp for free.
The camp is located on Keuka Lake in Penn Yan. Applications are now being accepted for Broome County families. This fun experience is funded by the New York State Sheriff’s Institute. Food, lodging, travel, and activities are free, and paid for by donations.
The NYS Sheriff's Summer Camp provides athletic, musical, aquatic, recreational, and creative pursuits throughout their weekly camp session, according to the Broome County Sheriff's Office.
