Every city in the United States has its good and bad points. Some areas of the city are great and others, well not so much for whatever various reasons.

A new study has been completed by the website Lawnstarter.com. It's a list of 2023's Dirtiest Cities in America.  The study listed 152 cities across the country as the dirtiest.

The criteria for these rankings from Lawnstarter.com is broken down into four categories:

- Infrastructure - Highest tonnage of waste in landfills.

- Living Conditions - Homes with signs of mice or rats.

- Consumer Satisfaction - Share of residents with time in the city due to pollution.

Pollution - air quality and greenhouse gas emissions.

Here are three Upstate New York Cities that landed on the list:

Buffalo ranks at #147 on the list, making this city one of the least dirties on the list if that's any type of honor.

Syracuse lands at # 112 and is one of the lowest in customer satisfaction at #28.

Rochester is the dirtiest Upstate New York City at #80 with living conditions ranked as the 18th worst on the list of 152 cities.

As for downstate cities, New York City lands at #12 and Yonkers at #10. The dirtiest on the list from Pennsylvania include Philadelphia at #26 and Pittsburg at #31.

The top five dirtiest cities in America according to the Lawnstarter.com survey from five to one, are #5 - Jersey City, New Jersey, #4 - Detroit, Michigan, #3 - San Bernadino California, #2 - Newark New Jersey, and the dirtiest city in America title goes to Houston, Texas.
