Celebrate The Season With Community Parades And Festivities
Welcome to December and Happy Holidays! With all that goes on this month, one of the things we look forward to is our local community holiday parades, and there are a few to check out and enjoy this month.
Village of Johnson City Holiday Parade
The first parade of the season is on December 4th. Held every year on the first Thursday of the month, the annual Johnson City is ready to kick off the season, as has been the case for almost 40 years.
The parade route will run along Main Street from Lester Avenue to Arch Street, Downtown Johnson City, featuring floats, local organizations, businesses, sounds of the season, and Santa!
This parade is also special because it is an evening parade featuring plenty of holiday lights shining brightly along the parade route. Parade time is 7 p.m.
Village of Endicott Holiday Parade
Held on the first Saturday of December, the Village of Endicott parade will kick off at 4 p.m. on December 6th. This parade travels down the entire stretch of Washington Avenue, beginning at the intersection with North Street.
At the end of the parade, Santa will be on hand at the Endicott Fire Station to meet with kids at approximately 5:15 p.m. Hot chocolate and cookies will be offered to all.
And that's not all! A fireworks show will be held at Sertoma Field, located behind George W. Johnson Park, at 5:45 p.m. Parking will be available in the parking lots by Logan Field and multiple parking lots located along Watson Boulevard or by the George W. Johnson Park.
Owego Lights On The River
Friday, December 5th, the annual Lights the River Holiday Festival will fill the streets of Downtown Owego from 5 to 9 p.m., featuring a long list of fun events on Courthouse Square, along with Front and Lake Streets.
The lighting of the holiday tree will occur at 6 pm., and at 7 pm., the Parade of Lights will step off featuring ATVs and UTVs.
In addition, there will be live entertainment, meet the Grinch, Ruby the Rumble Pony, photos with Santa, food, vendors, several Downtown Owego store events, and a fireworks show at 8 p.m. For more information, visit the Owego Lights On The River website.
Village of Whitney Point Holiday Parade
The annual Whitney Point Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, December 13th. This evening parade, full of holiday lights, floats, organizations, and music, will kick off at 6:30 p.m.
In addition to the holiday parade, a tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7 p.m.
