Broome County Is The Place For Summer Fun This Year
Summer fun continues in the Southern Tier of New York. County fairs are just around the corner, and the Dick's Sporting Goods Open at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott is just a week away, with events from June 19th through the 25th.
Binghamton's July Fest returns after a three year absence, Friday through Sunday July 7th through the 9th in the Downtown area. The Broome County Fair will run Tuesday July 25th through Sunday July 30th at the fairgrounds on Route 11 in Whitney Point.
The annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally will kick off on Friday August 4th and continues through Sunday August 6th, and the Tioga County Fair will be Tuesday August 8th though Saturday August 12th at Marvin Park in Owego.
And if you re looking for some summer events to attend throughout the summer, the Cornell Cooperative Extension and Broome County have a full summer of fun activities for people of all ages. They include nature walks, canoe and kayak tours, pond safari's, outdoor skills events, a frog and even a toad jumping contest.
The nature walks will occur on July 2nd at Nathaniel Cole Park, August 6th at Hawkins Pond and September 3rd at Otsiningo Park. Each of thee days are on a Sunday and will occur from 3 to 4 pm.
The canoe and kayak tours will be guided on Whitney Point Lake at Dorchester Park on July 17th and August 19th from 9 to 11 am and July 27th and August 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Other activities through the Broome County Parks include discovering fireflies, to be held on July 28th at Greenwood Park from 8:30 to 9:30pm and discover dragonflies on August 19th from 1:30 to 3 pm.
