Investigation Underway Into Fires at Charlotte St. Apartment House

Investigators are looking into what caused what may have been more than one fire at a West Side, Binghamton apartment house over the weekend. 

City Firefighters were called to the three-story building at 25 Charlotte Street starting early in the morning February 15 and then were called back when flames re-appeared on the third floor two more times.  It’s not clear if the other incidents were both cases of rekindling of the first fire.

Over a dozen residents have been displaced and the building is a total loss, but no injuries were reported.

Binghamton Police Tuesday morning were unable to say if authorities had determined if one or more of the incidents was suspicious.
