Increased Traffic and Protesters Expected at Binghamton Circus Shows
Visitors to downtown Binghamton April 25 may notice a lot of activity around the Floyd . L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Garden Brothers Circus is performing at 4:30 and 7 p.m.
Motorists may encounter more pedestrians than usual crossing Hawley and State Streets but they may also notice animal rights demonstrators around the venue, in addition to families headed to the show.
Some groups are protesting treatment of some of the animals in the show.
The activist group, CompassionWorks International put out a news release in advance of this week’s performances claiming safety concerns, not only for the circus’ elephants, but for patrons attending the shows.
